Join us for Dr. Gary Nabhan’s last on-campus lecture after 40 years of involvement with desert sciences, followed by comments from Chuck Hutchinson, David Quanrud & Aaron Flesch, public discussion and book signing.
Gary is an Agricultural Ecologist, Ethnobotanist, Ecumenical Franciscan Brother, and author whose work has focused primarily on the interaction of biodiversity and cultural diversity of the arid binational Southwest. He is considered a pioneer in the local food movement and the heirloom seed saving movement.
Gary earned the MacArthur Fellowship (1990-1995) and the MOCA Local Genius Award (2013), among scores more. He co-founded Native Seeds/SEARCH while working at the University of Arizona.
