Comcaac field biologist and novelist Alberto Mellado Jr reminds us that the desert offers us an `abunDance’ of options, not scarcity and impoverishment:
“I have always felt full of life; I have always felt as if I have had all I need, for the Comcaac have taught me the names and uses of every plant and animal.”
“Hant Hasooma – the spirit of the driest wildlands- showed us how to be nourished [and how to] discover plenty of water, even though it has been hidden from others.”
With such a gracious and grateful perspective, we need not fear embracing desert life.
