It is indeed amazing that a week after our President pulled out of the Paris Climate Accord and denied that climate change is real and solutions to it create jobs, he tries to turn his attention to “our crumbling infrastructure of bridges and roads.” Why is the infrastructure crumbling at an unprecedented rate? Climate change!
Not long ago, 98 percent of urban leaders surveyed about causes of risks to their infrastructure identified climate change among the looming risks to their cities’ storm sewers, dams, roadways, floodways, bridges, riverside parks, and water supplies.
The American Society of Civil Engineers rated our nation’s infrastructure as a D+ and estimated that the investments needed to restore and climate-profit would reach $3.6 trillion by 2020. So which nation is doing a better job at that–and linking their renewable energy and water infrastructures that create loads of jobs? China, not Trumplandia, the imaginary world where one can wish away a tangible problem with as little as a tweet!
I urge the Senate to vote to establish a new Cabinet-level agency, COVFEF-CCC: COMMISSION ON VIABLE FIXES to ENVIRONMENTAL FRAILTIES – CAUSED by CLIMATE CHANGE
