What I am grateful for this morning is the hundreds of thousands of American women assembling in our Capitol this morning who know that this country must be managed & cared for as if it is more than some Beauty Pageant.

It must cared for as if all lives around the world–women, men, gay, lesbian, transgender, foreign-born & native, animal, vegetable, mineral & microbial–matter to the health & well-being of this planet.

America is first in noting, if we do not care for people in distress in all countries…compassion, not being at the top of the heap, should be our indicator of “success”.

Bless all my sisters, especially my many friends & mentors of the Code Pink tribe today. Their call for me to join them at another corner in the capitol was the first message I received this morning… a hard rain is gonna fall today near Tucson but another kind of rain is bringing freshness to DC after the odor of pompousness & privileged circumstance prevailed in the inauguration address.

We need patriotism for Mother Earth & her diverse children, not more hollow patriotism!
