Last night, at the Desert Botanical Garden, I had the blessing to once again see Nancy Swanson, who has been an allegiant supporter and volunteer there (as well as taking on a bout as board chair of the Garden) over a period that now spans forty years.
Do you realize how many people around us have quietly gone about their service to conservation and/or social justice organizations as Nancy has for decades?
This is more than just “The Blessed Unrest” that Paul Hawken so eloquently wrote about a decade ago; it literally provides most of the stability and continuity that we need in our non-profits and grass root alliances over time.
Let us now praise volunteers who have kept America grateful and great whether pundits and politicians notice or not!
