I worry less about all of the politicians (who are ephemeral at best even though the damage they do may outlive them) and more about the loss of hope and cries of listlessness I am hearing from so many individuals whose voices I care deeply about (like you!).
I, like many of you, have no firm answers as to how we should go about restoring civility, dignity and hope to all who have been bruised over the last few years, months or weeks.
All I have are questions for you…
What can still get you up in the morning in a manner that brings you joy and laughter? What if we lived as if our days are numbered, so we use them to spread as much grace & love as we can to those who need it the most?
How do we accept that we (or at least me) cannot possibly be right all the time & how do we keep moving to do more good in the world in the face of that fact? When we fear that evil is in our midst, how do we ourselves give up any mean-spiritedness left in our own hearts so we do not allow such evil to grow any bigger? How do we keep love and good will center stage in a theater filled with great sadness and sorrow?
If you could ask all your friends to take one bold step together with you at this moment in history, what would you step toward that could bring us all more healing, rather than more conflict?
Thank each of you for every bold and thoughtful step you take!
